Could I love Tina Fey anymore? SNL returned this weekend hosted by the lady head-writer herself. Although I didn’t catch the whole show (who knew I’d so easily forget about television once all the good stuff had been off the air for months and months?), I thought her monologue on Weekend Update was brilliantly delivered:

I am so happy that the writers’ strike is over. The voices of Hollywood have returned: the great minds that control the politics of Tinseltown, and thus a greater part of the nation (for better or worse). We no longer have to rely on Tyra or Oprah or Simon or other figures of unscripted entertainment to fed us our opinions–now we have intelligent people to, um, tell us what to think (just kidding–I can totally like, think for myself and stuff).
As an aside, I think the end of the writers’ strike should serve as a symbolic, as well as literal, end to an era: reality tv. Seriously, are we still not over this? Six years of American Idol? SIX YEARS? I think we should use this as a learning experience; entertainment needs to be scripted by writers, not the actors as they go along.
Of course, for that to happen, the networks might need to start trying, just a little. Maybe by reading a newspaper so they know that the whole Sex and the City carbon copy bit is SO over.
i thought the bit was brilliant!! Tina Fey rocks.
I created some “bitch is the new black” and “bitches get stuff done” shirts/buttons/etc

Ohhh this post reminded me–I was totally gonna ask you about lipstick jungle. I saw a couple of commercials and it seemed like a major sex and the city ripoff.
